Easter Holidays - Always fun!

It seems that Easter is always a great time of year for outings and getting away as the weather in Queensland is just right and lot's of holidays for the kids..

We started off by going to our Ward Camp and setting up the 'big tent' for everyone to sleep in. The kids had a great time enjoying the outdoors and 'roughing it' for 24 hours. It was at the 'Scenic Rim 4WD Adventure Park' that one of our Ward Members helps to run and was a little noisy with all the vehicles around but good to spend some time with people we don't normally catch up with. We would have gone longer but we had so much to do over the weekend. Mum did a great job with the menu and we had hamburgers for dinner on the Friday night which were yum!

We then had a lovely Easter and traditional Easter Egg Hunt at home and Grandma's House and a dinner with all the family. (It is great having Andrew & Callie and their kids here for thiese things too).

On the Monday we took a family trip to St Helena Island in Moreton Bay. It was a prison for many years and part of Brisbane's eery past. For more info check out this link.

We had planned to get away for a few days to the beach on Tuesday but the aftermath of my dentist appointment that morning delayed our trip by one day. We drove up to Hervey Bay (long drive - about 4rs) and were lucky to get a great deal on a unit at 'Salt - Hervey Bay' for a couple of nights. It was very relaxing, beautiful scenery, very quiet and most important - a great pool for the kids.

We enjoyed our morning walk up Urangan Pier (800+ metres long) and even saw a fish being caught. Sarah did not take too kindly to the taking of marine life.. (I had to console her as we walked back along the Pier as the guy had caught a toad fish and killed it before throwing back in the water)

We saw some birds flying along the water then diving in catching fish (kids thought that was cool) and even a shovel-nose shark that was just sitting in the sand flats. We had nice dinners at the local bistro and then from the Italian place next door. It was good to get away for a couple of days just on our own and should do it more often.

It was a long drive home and we stopped in Gympie to have some lunch and the kids were not impressed at all that the one MacDonalds in town could not do Shakes or Sundaes or Frozen drinks. (Never stopping here again", I think they said :)

Back in time for an early morning family photo session with the whole Haynes family (John & Veronica's) and for the first time in a long time we were actually ON TIME and first one's there! (I get paid out allot because we are always late:) I am sure we will post some of the photos soon when we get them.. They turned out really nice but here are some of the 'making of/behind the scenes ones:

To top it off we watched general conference on Sunday in our home theatre and really enjoyed the talks - very inspiring. All this in one week (Oh and Ethan's birthday on the Monday but will do that in the next post...)
